Upholstery That Holds Up Under Commercial Traffic

Seating in a bank lobby or a hotel gets sat in and stood up from hundreds of times a week, not occasionally the way furniture in someone's living room does. Foam that breaks down fast, fabric that pills within a year, or stitching that gives out under that kind of repeated use is a problem nobody wants to deal with after the fact. Commercial upholstery is a different discipline from furniture upholstery, and treating it like the same job is where a lot of seating fails early.

CBBE has run in-house custom upholstery since 1985 as one of our core capabilities, alongside wood veneer casework and solid surface, out of our Canton, Georgia facility. Keeping it in-house means the seating and panels we build are designed as part of the millwork package, not sourced separately and hoped to match.

What Our Upholstery Team Builds

Our upholstery department produces banquette seating, bench seating, upholstered panels, headboards for hospitality projects, and waiting room and lobby seating for healthcare and corporate clients. We build to the dimensions and design intent set by the architect, and where a piece needs to integrate directly with a cabinet or millwork run, our upholstery and cabinet line assembly teams coordinate on that fit before either piece is finished.

Materials Chosen for Commercial Life, Not Just Looks

Fabric and vinyl selection for a commercial project has to account for cleanability and durability first, appearance second, though the two are not mutually exclusive if the right material is chosen. Healthcare seating in particular needs to be wipeable and stand up to constant disinfecting without the material breaking down. Hospitality and corporate seating needs to survive heavy daily use for years without looking worn after the first one. We help clients select materials that meet those practical demands while still fitting the design intent of the space.

Built to Match the Rest of the Millwork

Upholstered pieces built by a separate vendor after the millwork is already installed almost never match as well as everyone hoped when the project was specified. Color, texture, and proportion all read differently once a piece is sitting next to the casework it is supposed to complement. Because our upholstery team works alongside our cabinet, finishing, and engineering departments in the same facility, seating gets built to work with the millwork it sits next to, not as an afterthought sourced from a catalog.
